Malaysian Women Settle For Badminton Team Bronze
JAKARTA: Despite trying their best, Malaysian went down 1-3 to Indonesia in the SEA Games badminton women's team semi-finals at the Istora Senayan Stadium here on Sunday.
With the defeat, Malaysia shared the bronze medal with Singapore, who lost 0-3 to Thailand in the other semi-final.
Indonesia will slug it out with Thailand in the final on Tuesday.
Indonesia led through Linda Wenifanetri, who took only 13 minutes to beat Malaysia's Tee Jing Yi 21-18, 13-21, 15-21 before Vivian-Khe Wei made it all square by beating Vita Marissa-Nadya Melati 21-19, 21-23, 28-26.
Then, Indonesia's second singles player Adriyanti Firdasar made short work of Malaysia's Lydia Cheah, winning 7-21, 21-13, 21-14 in 49 minutes.
Malaysia's hopes were dashed when Marylen Ng-Lim Yin Loo went down tamely to Nitya Maheswari Khrishinda-Anneke Feinya Agustine 8-21, 16-21.
